Mentoring Students
UPSTART
Our upstart programs provide students and young adults with training, knowledge, workforce skills, and character development to transition between paramount seasons of life - the transition to high school, the transition out of high school, and the transition into the working world.
Upstart: Middle School
A one-semester program that walks alongside and mentors 6th, 7th, and 8th graders as they navigate school, friends, family, extracurriculars, and the new pressures of life. Meeting one day per week, this program provides space for students to be curious about life and inevitable adulthood, to learn confidence in who they already are, and to explore what life has to offer them in the future. Each meeting is a laid-back structure meant to give a restful and low-pressure environment to gain the tools they need as they establish their place in this world. Snacks and homework help are also available! To enquire about this program, please fill out the interest form below.
Upstart: Career Exploration
A 12 week course that introduces high school freshman, sophomores, and juniors to the world of the construction trades. this course features introductory math review, application, and tutoring, stem and other hands-on activities, visits to trades sites, and speakers from the trades. our volunteers and staff also mentor the students in character development, encouraging and supporting them entering the adult world. we emphasize gaining self confidence and realizing the worth and value every person brings to society and the community around them. All this is done while also helping to prepare students for whatever they may decide for their future, trades or not. To enquire about this program, please fill out our interest form below.
